Equal Justice Society
  • RECENT EVENT

Thank you for supporting our 4th Annual Constance Baker Motley Civil Rights Fellowship Luncheon on June 2. Our program included remarks by Tom Saenz, counsel to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. He served as MALDEF’s lead counsel in successfully challenging California’s Proposition 187 in court, presenting extensive arguments on numerous occasions in three different cases involving the anti-immigrant initiative.

  • THEORY OF CHANGE

EJS is one of the few institutions with an explicit focus on overturning barriers to implementing the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution and antidiscrimination legislation. We are dedicated to redefining the “equal protection” clause of the Fourteenth Amendment in order to redress and prevent present-day forms of bias and discrimination.

  • ABOUT THE EQUAL JUSTICE SOCIETY

The Equal Justice Society is a national strategy group heightening consciousness on race in the law and popular discourse. Using a three-prong strategy of law and public policy advocacy, cross-disciplinary convenings and strategic public communications, EJS seeks to restore race equity issues to the national consciousness, build effective progressive alliances, and advance the discourse on the positive role of government.
